    sammendrag:
Present requirements for environmental monitoring (EM) of the sediment ecosystem are based on decades of experience from quantitative studies of macrofauna biodiversity taken by grabs. Monitoring of the water column is focused on examining impacts from specific discharges on individuals, but there is a gradual shift from such impact measurements at individual level to examining effects in several trophic levels of the ecosystem (Norwegian Environmental Agency, 2015). An increasing focus on cost reduction and HSE performance, and the development of advanced molecular detection to characterize environmental samples (metabarcoding) allows for new ways of doing environmental monitoring. This project explores the use of targeted quantitative DNA assay for cost-effective surveillance of early changes in biodiversity in relation to Oil & Gas activities. The aim is to develop and adapt methods to identify and quantify key indicator species from marine benthic and pelagic samples using DNA-based methodologies. The proposed methodologies will be used as proxies of impact and biodiversity changes in environmental samples. They will be established for routine assays and optimized for monitoring at sites of interest.

After participating in a Joint Industry Project since 2013, Total can now develop oil and gas fields on the seabed at 3,000 meters water depth, hundreds of kilometers from shore, with renewable power. Not only does this genuine technical achievement open unexplored areas, it will also offer CAPEX savings, help deliver additional reserves and reduce environmental footprint. Electrification of the subsea production system is part of a global CO2 reduction program within the industry. Together with subsea processing, digitalization and automation we see the potential to minimize topside facilities to normally unmanned FPSO

    sammendrag:
ABB is currently managing a joint industry project with Statoil, Total, and Chevron to develop technologies for subsea power transmission, distribution, and conversion at greater distances and in deeper waters. The joint development started in 2013, and being the largest collaboration project of its kind, it is able to draw on deep competence from across the industry with multiple partners, taking technology from the lab to the field in a structured qualification process. The objective of the project is to qualify subsea medium voltage switchgear and variable speed drives with associated controls and low voltage distribution for water depths up to 3000 meters. These new products will enable applications such as subsea compression and subsea oil boosting that require large amounts of power. By enabling operation of such large power consumers closer to the reservoir, production improves due to the increased flow and pressure. This can be key, both as part of extending the life time of existing fields and as a means to develop new fields with limited pressure and/or with great distances to existing infrastructure or processing facilities.
