- sammendrag:
- The oil and gas activity as well as aquaculture in Norway is gradually moving towards northern waters; i.e the Barents Sea. The infrastructure being used in those waters may be exposed to impact from sea ice and glacial ice. The purpose of the project is to contribute to a safe and sound field development in these waters by enabling simulation technology (SAMS) to make reliable estimations of loads from ice in the ocean on these structures. ArcISo took the initiative to develop this simulator technology (SAMS). The core technology of ArcISo is the numerical tool SAMS (Simulator for Arctic Marine Structures) for ships and vessels designed for operation in ice-infested waters. Based on this technology, the following products have been developed: - A high-fidelity numerical simulation app for precise load calculations used for design and engineering of ships and structures to be operated in realistic multi-domain ice conditions. - A high-fidelity simulation app used as a strategic tool for testing planned single and multi-vessel operations and scenarios of a vessel in ice conditions. - Thermo-mechanical coupled simulation capacity to address issues (e.g., icing hazard) that are encountered by offshore structures in cold climate.
