   WiDRIL is developing the world's first wireless electrical Gas Lift Valve (eGLV) that can fit in a standard Side Pocket Mandrel (SPM) profile. The eGLV will measure injection and tubing pressures and adjust orifice size with commands from the user. Telemetry to and from the surface occurs wirelessly using pressure pulses. Power is supplied by a turbine-generator, which also performs pressure pulse creation and flow rate measurement functions. Since eGLV fits a standard SPM it can be retrofitted into existing downhole gas lift infrastructure, worldwide. Fitting all the required systems for an eGLV into a standard Gas Lift Valve envelope is achieved only by significant miniaturization of all the components.
