The latest position is a snapshot, not a guarantee of the vessel's current position. Check the retrieval time and the timestamps in the track.
Open the position as a place for weather, ports and nearby objects.
Use the track for movement over time; do not infer a destination without explicit data.
MMSI is the primary identifier; IMO can be used to confirm vessel identity.
