OUS har etablert felles driftsnett for kommunikasjon for teknisk ansatte og sikkerhet på tvers av alle enheter i OUS og nettet som etableres på nytt proton- og klinikkbygg skal inngå i dette felles nettet. Det eksisterende nettet er etablert og driftet av Northcom AS. Gitt kompatibilitet til eksisterende installasjoner, lisenser og frekvensbånd er det ingen andre enn Northcom AS som kan utføre tjenesten. HSØ må derfor foreta en direkteanskaffelse, jf. forskrift om offentlige anskaffelser § 13-4 (1) bokstav c.
