  Saltdal kommune har siden 2009 benyttet en ressursfordelingsmodell som grunnlag for å beregne fordeling av økonomiske rammer til grunnskolene. Modellen tok utgangspunkt i en modell utarbeidet i Vestvågøy kommune og har frem til i dag hatt flere justeringer og tilpasninger. Gjeldende modell fordeler ressurser til skolene hovedsakelig på bakgrunn av elevtall. Modellen ligger ved forespørselen. Når modellen skulle evalueres i 2021, kom det innspill på at denne ressursfordelingsmåten ikke ivaretok alle skolene godt nok. Prosessen endte med politisk vedtak i desember 2021, på at gjeldende ressursfordelingsmodell skulle evalueres og at alternative kombinasjonsmodeller for fulldelte skoler i Saltdal skulle utredes. Dette ble gjort gjennom ekstern bistand fra Bedriftskompetanse AS, våren 2022. Rapport og saksutredning var opp til politisk behandling i kommunestyret 23. juni 2022, saken ble utsatt og kommunedirektøren fikk i oppdrag å utrede kombinasjonsmodeller med fulldelte skoler. Rapport og saksutredning ligger ved forespørselen.
