  Konkurranseresultatene skal bl.a. gi innspill til reguleringsarbeidet for Bybanen, til utvikling av Torget som markeds- og møteplass, og ikke minst til de beste løsninger for Bryggen og øvrige kulturminner med konkrete løsninger for utforming av bygulv, byromsmøblering, belysning mv. Sentral kompetanse som må tilføres konkurransen er kompetanse innen arkitektur, landskapsarkitektur, industridesign, trafikk og sikkerhet, samt kulturminnefaglig kompetanse. Bergen kommune vil også stille krav om at alle deltakere skal ha et relevant Wildcard-kontor tilknyttet teamet. Med Wildcard-kontor menes et kontor som oppfyller vilkårene for registrering i wildcardlisten til Norske arkitekters landsforbund (NAL). For mer informasjon om wildcardordningen, se https://www.arkitektur.no/hvem-kan-bli-wildcard. Konkurransen vil gjennomføres som en begrenset prosedyre, med planlagt kunngjøring august/september. Det er en intensjon at konkurranseresultat skal være på plass i løpet av våren 2019. Dette er byrom av stor betydning for Bergen og Norge, med høy prioritet fra kommunens side. Det vil settes stort fokus på å få på de beste løsningene for utforming når det gjelder kulturminner, byliv og mobilitet. Flere detaljer vedrørende konkurransen vil komme i forbindelse med kunngjøring av plan- og designkonkurransen.
