Description
Kystverket skal gjennomføre en anskaffelse for en ny offshore-operasjon for å undersøke vrakdelene av ubåten U-864 utenfor kysten av Fedje. Hovedmålet er å oppnå tilgang til en begrenset del av kjølen på én eller begge vrakdelene for å hente ut et representativt antall kvikksølvbeholdere og vurdere deres tilstand, samt evaluere tilstanden til kjølkassene langs så mye av vrakets lengde som mulig. Dette for å kunne planlegge eventuelle fremtidige operasjoner for sikker fjerning av kvikksølv.Det er også behov for å kartlegge dybden ned til fast fjell i området rundt vrakdelene. Operasjonen vil kreve ekspertise innen miljøovervåking og innen graving, mudring og/eller boring i forurensede sedimenter på vanndyp tilsvarende lokaliteten (140–160 meter). The main objective is to gain access to a limited section of the keel on one or both wreck parts in order to retrieve a representative number of mercury canisters and assess their condition, as well as evaluate the condition of the keel compartments along as much of the wreck’s length as possible. This is intended to inform potential future operations for the safe removal of mercury.There is also a need to map the depth to bedrock in the area surrounding the wreck parts. The operation will require expertise in environmental monitoring and in excavation, dredging and/or drilling in contaminated sediments at water depths corresponding to the site (140–160 meters).
