Den vil blant annet bli base for aktiviteter innen autonomi, skipstrafikkontroll, sjøsikkerhet, kystinfrastruktur, havenergi og oppdrett. Dette fullskala forsknings- og testområdet er en viktig del av Norsk Havteknologisenter, og blir i regionen samlet under Møre Ocean Lab.
