Ibestad kommune (kommunen) mottok i 2012 offentlige midler for utbygging av bredbånd. Etter forespørselsrunde ble det i 2014 inngått avtale med Bredbåndsfylket Troms (BBFT) om utbygging av fibernett i kommunen i kommunens regi med BBFT som prosjektledelse. Utbyggingen ble foretatt i flere faser hvorav to av de planlagte fasene ennå ikke er utført. Fase 3 Klåpen - Årbostad skal nå bygges, derav denne utlysningen.
