RFI - Datalink

Description

Sporveien is working with the establishment of a new signalling system (CBTC- Communication Based Train Control) for Oslo Metro. The system is based on radio communication between a CBTC central and the trains. Sporveien is evaluating two alternatives for the datalink, Wi-Fi datalink delivered by the CBTC (signalling) supplier or 4G LTE datalink delivered as a service to the CBTC supplier by commercial mobile operators. There will be high availability requirements for the datalink service, which will be solved by operating two independent networks in parallel. The main purpose of this RFI process is to discuss the 4G LTE alternative. In a possible future procurement process regarding 4G LTE service contracts, the competition will only be open for mobile network operators (MNO) and national autonomy will be imperative.
