BEHIND THE DOTS

A day, drawn from data.

Each dot is a scheduled passenger journey from Entur’s national timetable for Friday, 30 October 2026, in the Europe/Oslo time zone.

Service calendars and date exceptions determine which journeys run. Thursday services continuing after midnight are included. A dot follows its route shape, interpolated between scheduled stop arrivals and departures, including waiting at stops.

Where geometry or usable distances are missing, a dot travels directly between stops. Positions are estimates from the timetable. Journeys represent trips, not unique physical vehicles.

Boat dots are scheduled ferries and passenger services. Aircraft routes are timetable approximations. The map shows mainland Norway; services may continue beyond its frame.

Distance & estimated emissions

Distance sums scheduled vehicle-kilometers along the simplified route geometry, including completed journeys. It counts only travel since midnight, including the Friday portion of overnight journeys. Totals follow the clock and selected modes across the full network, regardless of map zoom, and reset when the day loops. Straight stop-to-stop routes can underestimate distance.

Estimated CO₂e = vehicle-kilometers × an assumed factor for each mode. CO₂e expresses greenhouse gases as carbon dioxide equivalents. The starter factors below are illustrative scenarios, not measured Norwegian fleet averages. The timetable has no fuel, electricity, vehicle-size or passenger data; this model does not establish actual emissions or savings.
